Tūpari Vineyards sit atop some magnificent cliffs over looking the Awatere River that runs through the estate in the heart of this southern valley with the same name in Marlborough - NZ. Winemaker Glenn Thomas and his partner Sharon were leasing the Turnball’s farm cottage and after a few bottles of wine crafted by Glenn it was easy to appreciate these elevated river terraces were ideal for growing premium quality grapes, so in 2002 Tūpari vineyard was planted.
This single vineyard wine was sourced from their Kura Marama vineyard which is a special parcel of land sitting near to the original homestead and consists of free draining gravels resting on fine sand, silt and clay. The fruit was picked at the ideal time and once it arrived at the winery the parcels were gently pressed and fermented under the diligent eye of Glenn. And using a specific yeast to highlight the nuances in the unique flavour profile achieved from this special site. The wine then rested on its lees for about 4 months giving balanced opulence to the mid-palate and length to an articulate expression.
★ On this classic varietal nose, you are greeted by upbeat aromas of gooseberries, green capsicums, green apples, white flowers, plus a hint of grapefruit and lime skin. The palate is generous and engaging with a dynamic citrus explosion that invigorates your tastebuds. This wine has an authentic freshness with a well-balanced splash of varietal acidity resulting in a vibrant, memorable citrus kiss on the clean dry finish.
This 2023 TŪPARI ‘Awatere Valley’ Sauvignon Blanc has 13% Alc./vol. Made in a classic dry style. Chill gently and serve in a light, aromatic wine glass at 8° - 9°C. *NZ$27.00

Drinking perfectly well this summer season; and will hold for another 12 - 18 months.
