This self-sufficient man lived alone in a humble tin shed in the hills behind the Kilikanoon Cellar Door. Living off fruit and vegetables and roamed the valley for his meals with rabbits being his favourite. This Cabernet is part of the ‘Killerman’s Run’ range of extremely drinkable varietal wines.
Showcasing the terroir of the Clare Valley and Kevin’s clear winemaking philosophy of uncompromised quality and consistency. This ‘Killerman’s Run’ Cabernet Sauvignon is masterfully composed from Kilikanoon’s own diverse vineyard sites, planted across the captivating wine region, expressing an engaging, elegant and approachable style.
The Clare experienced a cooler than expected vintage along with lower evening temperatures punctuated by a number of light rainfall events that slowed down the ripening process and allowed the harvest to run well into April. It must be remembered that the Clare always looks its best in the cooler seasons and these conditions were ideal in creating a Cabernet of great definition, character and complexity.
This 2017 ‘Killerman’s Run’ Cabernet Sauvignon as with previous vintages has been crafted through careful fruit selection, traditional and respectful winemaking techniques, 16 months maturation in a mix of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. And then after tasting it has been bottled unfiltered to fully enhance the wines layered character and appeal.
• As you pour this Cabernet into a generous glass, you will be greeted by a deep red colour with shining crimson hue. This wine has an inviting aroma showcasing ripe cassis, truffle notes and a background of oak char. These engaging aromatics lead onto a generous palate that is packed with rich flavours. Rewarding your senses with dark wild berries, dark cacao and tobacco notes all nicely wrapped in well-balanced oak and fruit tannins. Giving structure and support to this self-assured, complex wine, resulting in a long and pleasing dry finish.
This 2017 Kilikanoon ‘Killerman’s Run’ Cabernet Sauvignon has 14% Alc./vol. Decant for 45-50 minutes and serve in a generously shaped red wine glass at 17°- 18°C.
A Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with structure and character.

CELLARING POTENTIAL: *(Review 28/07/19)
With decanting, drinking well this season; and will age well for another 8 – 10 years.

FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
Perfect wine pairing with roast beef, grilled or bbq’d steaks, wild game cuisine with a wine-jus, earthy vegetarian dishes, and aged hard cheeses – enjoy.

more wine reviews

["post-2154","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","entry
["GET
